TOM DOOLEY DAYS
Saturday, July 23: 10 a.m. -5 p.m. and Sunday, July 24 1p.m.-5pm: Kids 5 & Under Free
HISTORY LIVES at the Whippoorwill Academy & Village in Ferguson, North Carolina. Join us for this inaugural event which brings back the days of the Civil War time period in the Yadkin Valley and the first nationally publicized murder trial over the mystery of who killed Laura Foster.
Members of the 26th Regiment of North Carolina reenactors will be present. Period skills like blacksmithing and weaving by Kenny Clontz will be demonstrated. Mary Bohlen will demonstrate cooking methods of the past.
The Bleau Moon Production Company will perform a scene from their outdoor drama, Tom Dooley A Wilkes County Legend on Saturday.
Author Charlotte Corbin Barnes will be here to talk about her new book, The Tom Dooley Files and will be showing a video of her interviews with local people.

Art Exhibit of “Landscapes of Western North Carolina” by Betty Powell, Mary Dobbin, Susan Powers, and Margaret Martine will be on display in the Smokehouse Gallery.
An Ancestry Wall will be set up to find out how many Dula, Foster, Ferguson, Carter, Horton, Cowles, and Mellons are present and their link to the Tom Dooley story.
Local craftsman will have a variety of unique items for sale. Food and drinks will also be available. A medical tent will be onsite thanks to the Ferguson Volunteer Fire Department.
